The federation “Junta de Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos” assumed all the legal powers and responsibilities of the antecedent organizations in the regulation and organization of the “Moros y Cristianos” festival honouring St. Hippolyte. During festival days the City Hall delegates civil responsibility to this organization which is made up of volunteers and run on the democratic guidelines of rule by majority vote.

 

            Of course the decisions are open to criticism and are adopted when consensus is reached. However once approved the rules (Estatutos) are binding and failure to follow them may result in expulsion of “fester” or “Filà".

 

            This festival has both civil and religious elements and thus the church also collaborates with the “Junta de Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos” in coordinating and scheduling all the religious activities.
